Morocco began their 2026 World Cup African qualifying campaign on Tuesday after Eritrea cancelled their planned game on the first matchday. The Moroccan national team travelled to Dar Es Salaam to face Tanzania, beating the hosts 2-0 with Youssef En-Nesyri starting the game and playing a central role in the second visiting goal as, seven minutes after the restart, Mwamnyeto diverted the striker's shot into his own net at the back post. This was after Ziyech had given Morocco the lead in the first period.

En-Nesyri was substituted on 72 minutes for El Kaabi and Morocco already lead their group, despite having played a game less than their competitors. En-Nesyri and his countrymen will now turn their attention towards the African Cup of Nations, which takes place in the Ivory Coast in January and where they will again take on Tanzania, as well as the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia in the group stage.

Meanwhile, the Spain U-21s drew one apiece with Belgium in Leuven. As against Hungary in Huelva on Friday, Juanlu Sánchez remained on the bench throughout.
