Quique Sánchez Flores spoke after the victory over Atlético de Madrid, our head coach revealing his delight at Sunday evening's win: "It was a very exciting match. We really saw the players step up and the fans made us stronger, backing us throughout the game. It's a fantastic victory that we hope will be the springboard for more."
When analysing the match, Sánchez Flores highlighted the intensity of his side's performance: "We played with energy, focus, desire, ambition, commitment... a series of fundamental attributes. We had opportunities to score more goals, we showed great understanding on the pitch and we were brave against a world-class opponent that also played well and made things very difficult for us." He was also asked about the goal scorer Isaac Romero: "Isaac is proving to be our match-winner at the moment. If we are looking for something it is people who know what Sevilla stands for, what it means to wear the shirt. Whoever wants to play must fight for the badge on their chest every day. Wins will bring confidence and, even though our recent good work hasn't always yielded the results it deserved, I always told the players that we have to keep pushing as we weren't getting the most from a great team and, if we don't give up, the results will come."
"Isaac is our match-winner at the moment"
To round off, while admitting that his team need some rest, our head coach dedicated the win to the victims of the tragic recent road accident that occurred en route to supporting the team in Madrid: "On behalf of the whole club, the team and myself, we dedicate this win to them, offering our strength and support to their friends and family."
