Club legend Jesús Navas wrote yet another golden chapter in the book of his already incomparable and extraordinary career in Saturday night's victory over Getafe CF. Halfway through the first half at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, the club captain unleashed a powerful yet measured right-footed shot to beat David Soria and score the only goal of the match, to the delight of the fans who witnessed another magical performance from the wing back. With the goal, Jesús Navas broke another record, becoming the oldest player in the history of the club to score at the age of 38 years, 9 months and 15 days. In doing so, the Sevilla captain overtook Sergio Ramos, who held the record after scoring, also against Getafe CF, the winning goal in last season's league victory at the Coliseum on his 38th birthday.

Since his goalscoring debut at San Mamés on 24 April 2005 at the age of 20 under Joaquín Caparrós, Navas has scored a total of 40 goals in a Sevilla FC shirt. Since that date, with unforgettable goals such as the one in the Copa del Rey final against Atlético de Madrid, 19 years have passed in the career of a player who seems to have no limits whenever he takes to the field to defend the shirt of the team of his life.

Jesús Navas, Sevilla FC's serial record holder, thus added a new milestone to a career that has already seen him become the player with the most games played in the club's history with 694 appearances, and the player with the most titles, after lifting 4 UEFA Europa League, 1 European Super Cup, 2 Copa del Rey titles and one Spanish Super Cup. In addition, he has the honour and privilege of being the player with the most trophies whilst competing with the Spanish national team, being the only player in Europe to win a World Cup, two European Championships and a Nations League, as well as being the player to have worn the national jersey for the longest period of time.
