Xavi García Pimienta was happy with the character shown this afternoon by the team to win at Montilivi: “This is a competitive and winning team. We came to a very difficult stadium. Sevilla have had a hard time beating Girona both at home and away lately. On top of that, we played a very good first half, missing a penalty and with plenty of chances to take the lead. Girona scored, but we had the guts to turn it around and we suffered in many moments. This shows that the boys have the desire and that by doing what we did today, we will be closer to winning more often than not."

Despite the setback, the team were able to come back: “In football, many things can happen and today we saw that. You have a penalty at the beginning, you don't score it, the team doesn't let up and generates several clear chances but they don't score. They had two chances and with the corner they took the lead. If you talk about fairness, you see that not only do you not take the lead but they end up scoring the opener. In the second half, having that pride and that desire to come back, that's what makes you overcome these situations. We were rewarded with the victory and this is how we have to continue."

Ejuke also returned to the team: “We knew it was going to be difficult for him because he had been injured for a long time and it was a very demanding game. We wanted to give him minutes to get into a rhythm because he has to be important. He has to do more things, but it's normal. He has to get back to match fitness and he will be a very important player for us." In addition, he wanted to highlight more names: “Today we had to work, I want also highlight the game of Carmona with Bryan in front. The pair of central defenders, Pedrosa who had not started for some time. Without playing well it is impossible to win here and we are happy because we have a great squad." Finally, he highlighted the fans who left Montilivi happy today: “They are always with the team. We were delighted today to see that corner full of Sevilla fans and in other parts of the stadium. Today they are proud of their team and that is what we have to achieve."
