The idea was to find out a few more details ahead of Monday's game. Would Berizzo divide up minutes or would he put out a different team in each of the two games in Japan? "We'll work out the team in the time we have available before the match. The idea is to share out minutes between the most players possible, keeping in mind that some players arrived later than others. Therefore as a minimum we'll divide up 45 minutes between them and in some cases, a few players will play the full 90 minutes", explained the Sevilla FC head coach.
Both Berizzo and Nico Pareja were clear on what they intend to show in the first encounter of the season. "For us it's an honour to be here and we are very excited to be able to play our first match. We're facing a tough, difficult oponent. Hopefully they can enjoy playing against with Sevilla FC. We want to play in a dynamic way, to put on a great show, to play on the attack and also for our fans to be able to enjoy this match, which will be well contested, open and with attractive football", commented Berizzo.
Pareja, on his part, was very clear: "I believe that it's a good step for our first friendly, that it will bring us closer to the objective we have to achieve in the next few weeks. They are a significant opponent from the Japanese League. Hopefully the audience can enjoy the match and it will help us in all aspects. Helping us to serve our purpose and to see what the coach wants from us. To me it's very clear that his philosophy is very attacking football with a great physical display, something which is very important despite the still being in these stages of pre-season. We will try to express what the gaffer wants from us on the pitch, and to put on a good show for all the fans so that they walk away with a fond memory".
The coach of Cerezo Osaka also referred to the encounter and what it means to face one of the most recognised teams on the European football scene. "It's an honour for us to take part in this match. It's going to be a great experience for the supporters and for the team. We hope that it will bring them good memories. I have a lot of respect for Sevilla FC. We know that they have won three UEFA Europa League titles in recent years and that they are always right up there in La Liga. They have a very fluid game and are intimidating opposition. They have very talented players and a great goalscoring ability. That is the main difference between European and Asian teams, the ability to score goals. We are worried about whether we will be able to withstand their offensive power and, moreover, whether we will be able to take advantage of it to attack ourselves".
