MARCUCCI: "FOCUSING ON THEIR INJURIES WOULD BE A MISTAKE"

The coach assured the press that Sevilla, like always, will go out to win in the Bernabéu, though it will be a "very difficult" match, where the vistors - more than the hosts - will need to "think about their own game"

Ernesto Marcucci spoke to the press this Friday ahead of Sevilla FC's final training session before their trip to face Real Madrid. The Argentine wanted to be cautious and despite good form coming into the game, emphasised: "momentum doesn't make you win games. We're where we wanted to be at this stage of the year but tomorrow will be a new story, a difficult story to face and I hope that after the game we can say that the momentum continues".

Momentum would not win the game, nor the injuries of Madrid. For Marcucci, to think that the host's absences could benefit Sevilla would be a mistake: "I think focusing on that would be a mistake. We need to think about our own game, which is in good shape after a hard week and we'll focus on what we need to do... Of course the injuries of both Ramos and Verane will affect them but those who play tomorrow will want to show that they can play more minutes than what they're used to and that's a challenge".

Beyond looking at Sevilla sitting on the same number of points as Real Madrid: "we need to have our feet on the ground more than ever. We come to achieve a big aim for the squad and the club but neither a win, loss nor draw will achieve the objective we've set for the competition".

Marcucci assured the press that "the intention of this team has been to win every match. Sometimes circumstances mean you can't, sometimes you play better, sometimes not so well... but the idea is to go out to win - that's our way of seeing football. Those sorts of circumstances make you push forward or fall back. There are little details in matches, sometimes insignificant ones, that hit home". 

The side's task at the Bernabéu, in that regard, will not be easy but despite the difficulty, the coach said: "we will try to make it even, to go out to compete against a great opponent, who will always make things difficult for you with great players. We will try to make it as equal a game as possible so the team can take total confidence and go for the win we're looking for".
