A second European night was one with many motivations. On the field, from the stands and also from the Director's Box. This Tuesday, club legend Alhaji Momodo Nije - known in the footballing world as Biri-Biri - returned to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. The Gambian is in the city for a few days, where he will experience an intense Sevilla FC schedule, including two matches. He saw his first last night against Maribor, and could not have had a better experience.
Biri-Biri has not been in Seville since April 2009, when he visited as a part of Fans' Week that season. Since then, he has been looking for an opportunity to return and was able to do so with the motivation of the Federación de Peñas Sevillistas San Fernando who made his trip a reality. Appreciated by Sevillistas throughout the stadium, including those who didn't see him play, Biri-Biri was able to hear his chant echoing around the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán and even stood up to thank the crowd.
He also dropped in on SFC Radio to give his thoughts after his first few hours in the city: "I'm happy because I haven't been here for many years. When I'm here I always think I'm in Gambia because the people love me so much and I love them too. The stadium and the city have changed a lot, but Sevillians are just as wonderful and the Sevillistas are the best fans in Spain". This Saturday, Biri-Biri will return to the stadium to watch Sevilla face Málaga CF, hoping the result will be just as positive.
