Yassine Bono is very close to making history at Sevilla FC, becoming the first-ever goalkeeper from Nervión to lift the Zamora Trophy awarded to the First Division goalkeeper with the fewest goals conceded. According to the rules of this prestigious award, the trophy goes to the goalkeeper who has played at least 28 games in a season - having played at least 60 minutes in all of them - and who has the lowest ratio of goals conceded per match.

Therefore, despite conceding once yesterday at the Wanda Metropolitano, Bono has conceded 24 goals in 31 games, which is a ratio of 0.77. His main rival is the Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who after not playing against Cádiz, kept his ratio at 0.83 with 29 goals conceded in 35 games following his clean sheet last Thursday against Levante. As the Sevilla goalkeeper has played the required number of games to win the Zamora Trophy, the maths is clear. If Bono doesn't play next Sunday against Athletic Club, he will be the winner, given that if Courtois plays and keeps a clean sheet against Betis, he would only be able to lower his ratio to 0.805 goals conceded per game.

Even if Bono does play in Nervión on the final matchday, he will still have a one goal margin to take the trophy if Courtois were to not concede against Betis. Although no Sevilla goalkeeper has ever won the Zamora Trophy, the club has had one winner of the Pichichi Trophy, the legendary Juan Arza, who scored 29 goals in the 1954/55 season. Also, the club can boast two wins of the Zarra Trophy, created in 2006 to recognise the highest scoring Spanish player in a season. On both occasions it was Álvaro Negredo as the highest scoring Spanish player in La Liga in 2010/11 with 20 goals and in 2012/13 with 25 goals.
