Three years is a long time in football and that's how long has passed since Erik Lamela touched down in Nervión from London in the summer of 2021. A farewell ceremony was held at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán for the Argentine who made 92 appearances, scoring 16 goals and lifting the UEFA Europa League in Budapest.
That unforgettable header against Juventus in the semi-final to take us to Budapest was included in a video showcasing the great moments of his three years with the club. Then it was the turn of his teammates to say their own special thanks.
Following the videos there were then speeches. Club President José María del Nido Carrasco, highlighted not only Lamela's footballing significance in these three years but also his spirit and personal values, which remain when a player moves on. Lamela himself appeared emotional and grateful for everything he had experienced in these three seasons and whose daughter was born in the city.
