ERNESTO MARCUCCI: “WE PLAYED WITH PROFESSIONALISM ”

Ernesto Marcucci, who coached the team tonight against FC Cartagena in place of Eduardo Berizzo, spoke to the press following  the victory which saw Sevilla FC secure safe passage through to the round-of-16 of the Copa del Rey. Un choque del que destacó que el mayor respeto que se le puede dar al rival “es jugar con la seriedad y la profesionalidad con la que lo hizo el equipo. Es una satisfacción para nosotros como cuerpo técnico”.

Y es que en dieciseisavos puede haber sorpresas, como la eliminación de la Real Sociedad a manos del Lleida: “Nadie se puede dormir, ya lo hablamos con los jugadores haciendo referencia a ese tipo de partidos y lo que puede suceder… Eso es lo mejor que le puedes mostrar a tus jugadores. Y ellos se lo han tomado de la forma que se lo han tomado y es una satisfacción. También quiero felicitar a un equipo rival que ha jugado con suma profesionalidad”.

“Ahora toca cambiar el chip y mañana comenzar a preparar el partido frente al Deportivo, un rival que viene herido pero que tiene sus virtudes y sus fortalezas. Ahí es donde debemos ahora enfocar toda nuestra energía”, concluyó.

It is extremely satisfying for us as the coaching team". 

In the round-of-32 there can be surprises, such as the elimination of Real Sociedad at the hands of Lleida: "No one can sit back and relax, we spoke to the players, making reference to these types of matches and what can happen...This is the best thing you can tell your players. And they've dealt with it the way they've dealt with it and that's satisfying. I'd like to also congratulate an opponent that has played with professionalism".

"Now we need to switch modes and tomorrow we look to prepare for the match against Deportivo, a rival that comes wounded but has its strengths. That's where we need to focus all of our energy", he concluded.
