Sergio Escudero returned from London with the sweet taste of victory after the two Sevilla FC matches in the Emirates Cup against RB Leipzig and Arsenal, even though the team were unable to bring the trophy home. “We leave feeling good, having performed well in the two games against Champions League opposition. The team has performed at the level needed to compete with them”, affirmed Escudero, to whom “winning is always positive, even though we also have things to work on. The matches help us in all areas, to find positives and also to improve”.
"We had a lot of the ball and we didn't let them play their game with it"
In particular, the full-back is pleased with the control exercised over Arsène Wenger's team: “One of the positive aspects is that we had a lot of the ball, which is what we want, and through the pressure that we put them under we didn't let them play their game. These are important things that we need to keep working on. The team also knew how to keep a team as good as Arsenal away from goal, and that is a positive. We still need to find our pace, but the important thing for now is to keep improving and to avoid injuries, because you can always improve”.
"Everything we are doing is to be at our best for the play-off"
Work and more work is being done in order to foster competitiveness that will strengthen the team: “Both those of us who were here before and those who are new have ambition. All 22 of us are working to be in the starting eleven and that's important. The competitiveness that there is helps us to improve and work towards as much success as possible”. And, of course, to face the challenge of the first official fixture of the season, no less than a Champions League play-off: “Everything we are doing is to be at our best by that date, because we cannot fail".
