Djibril Sow, Sevilla FC's new signing during his stay in the United States, has already spoken as a Sevilla player from the hotel in San Francisco, before the last part of the tour and where he and the rest of the team will face Atlético de Madrid: "I am very happy now. It has been a few long weeks but, finally, I've been able to sign and I am very happy. These weeks have been a bit stressful but the talks with Sevilla were always very positive and they really showed me the vision they had for me with the club. I only had Sevilla in my mind and I am very happy they could reach an agreement and I am a Sevilla player now", said the Swiss international.

"I saw the second half (of the derby). I know that the derby is very important in Sevilla and I am very happy they were able to win at the last minute. I think it's a good sign they were able to win on the day that I signed".

"It is a very important step for me in the next period of my career and I really wanted a new challenge"

Sow went on to say that "it is a very important step for me in the next period of my career and I really wanted a new challenge". I am very impressed with how they put the effort in to convince me and to show me the future. I am really happy to be at such a big club in Spain".

The Swiss central midfielder seemed anxious to play at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, a stadium where he has already made great memories in the past, especially when he won the UEFA Europa League back in 2022: "It's a very emotional club and a very emotional city. I am really looking forward to playing in front of these fans and showing them why I chose this club. It must be destiny, it was the biggest success in my career at that stadium and now I can play there almost every weekend. It's a real fairytale".

"I think it's a great match and playing in the Champions League was a big reason to come"

"I know it's a big club, not only in Spain but on an international level too. I think it's a good match, playing in the Champions League was also a big reason for me to come here and I think the club can still achieve great things. This is one of my goals, I hope we can push ourselves to the top".

Sow described himself as a mix of both an attacking and defensive-minded midfielder and he is more than happy to be sharing the changing rooms with other high-calibre midfielders like Fernando, Rakitic and Jordán: "It's a good mix of both. It's where I feel most comfortable. But I always try to help the team, to be successful, it doesn't really matter where I play. When I can help the team and play I will be happy. There is a lot of experience there and that's where I am going to be able to learn from to be able to reach the next level."

"I have been preparing myself for weeks and I hope to adapt quickly"

The new Sevilla man was emphatic when he said that he is more than ready to get out on the pitch: "If I could, I would play tomorrow but, it's not only up to me. I have to adapt and I have to adapt as fast as possible. I don't think fitness is a big problem for me. It may take time to adapt to the new coach's style of play but I can't wait to play the first game. Today, I've learnt how to say Vamos, mi Sevilla, nunca te rindas! (Let's go, Sevilla! Never surrender!), when discussing how his Spanish is progressing.
