.Just like in the away match in Group II of the Primera RFEF Footters, Sevilla Atlético won against Betis Deportivo in the reserve team derby played at the Estadio Jesús Navas. In the heat and in front of 2,300 fans at the Sevilla ground, the red stripes gained a vital victory in putting distance from themselves and the relegation zone. It came thanks to a sole goal from Luismi Cruz at the start of the second half in which Alejandro Acejo's side could have scored more.
The reserve team started as the clearly better side in the opening stages of the game. Camping themselves in their opponent's half, Alejandro Acejo's side began to create dangerous chances in the search for the first goal of the contest. The first to try his luck was Luismi Cruz with a free-kick that forced Dani Rebollo into intervening to save a shot that he tipped around the post.
The reserve team didn't stop in their determination against their arch-rival. Halfway through the first half Nacho Quintana had a surprise shot that ricocheted off the woodwork. Quintana, who was one of the most active players in the final third for Sevilla in the first half, was close to hitting the target when he nearly finished off a great cross from Zarzana from the right-hand side.
Luismi Cruz, after some good team play, scored the only goal of the game
The start of the second half continued in the same vein with the reserves starting by dominating possession again. The pressure from Sevilla forced a mistake from Dani Rebollo from which Luismi Cruz would open the scoring. After receiving the ball from Juanlu in a passage of play started with Kike Salas winning the ball back in the middle of the pitch, the man from Cádiz turned inside the area and fired a powerful low shot that beat the Betis goalkeeper.
Sevilla Atlético wanted more though and didn't stop. After coming off the bench Isaac Romero rattled the woodwork with a shot from distance that luckily for the away side rebounded off the crossbar. In the midst of the Sevilla dominance, Tavares had the best chance for the visiting side with a shot from inside the area that was saved by Javi Díaz. In the closing stages, Isaac Romero went close again with a one on one against Rebollo that could have finished off the game. Sevilla Atlético then saw out the game to get an important win and to put a bit of distance between them and the relegation zone.
