NAVAS: “I AM VERY PROUD THAT GOD HAS GIVEN ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE SO MANY PEOPLE HAPPY”

"I owe everything to this group, they gave everything so I could lift the cup today, and I've given everything for them because they're incredible"

Amidst tears and great emotion, Jesús Navas made a sincere speech to the SFC TV microphones after lifting the UEFA Europa League trophy. He could barely speak, and his voice was shaking, but he did manage to praise his teammates' efforts, which meant he could lift the cup: "It's amazing how the team has worked and fought. It's for our families, who have to put up with us, because it's a very difficult situation and we live for football, for giving this joy to the fans, so that they can be happy. I owe everything to this group, they have given it all for me to raise it up today and I have given it all for them because they are incredible". 

“Sevilla are so great, -continued the man from Los Palacios amidst tears-, football gives me everything, my life, and  for my teammates to outdo each other on the field in that way... They deserve it, and the fans, who have to be proud of every single one of us. There are a lot of days of giving it our all because this badge deserves it. Sevilla are so great".

Navas dedicated the win to many people: "For the fans, who we felt, it's for José Antonio, for Puerta, Campanal... And for my godfather, we learned of his passing this morning and he was a very important person for my family and me. They all deserve it, my grandparents, who took me to the pitch every day, to my wife, my two children, who put up with me because I live for football... and because I wanted to lift it. I don't get tired of saying it, football is everything for me and I am very proud that God has given me the opportunity to make so many people happy".
