"The Sevilla FC board has taken the decision that Director of Football, Óscar Arias will not continue at the club after La Liga finishes this 20th of May." These were the words of club chairman José Castro, opening his press conference following a long board meeting this Tuesday evening. Accompanied by vice-Chairman Gabriel Ramos, the Chairman told journalists at the Sánchez-Pizjuán: "Arias will continue conducting work related to his position and to the first team squad - though he will not take decisions on squad planning for the coming season".
He also confirmed: "Sevilla FC is confident of having a new Director of Football within a month and is already working on a new technical configuration... We are without a doubt at the edge of a change in who will direct our Sporting Committee, because above all else we know that there have been mistakes this year that we have to put right. We have things to change and we will change them because that's why we're here and we have that responsibility".
Asked about the possible arrival of Joaquín Caparrós to strengthen the board, he said: "we have been clear for some time now on the restructuring of many areas and one of them is in our sports structure. Joaquín is a person who could be involved".
Finally, he admitted: "An internal disciplinary case has been opened against Nzonzi. That will have its course and when a decision is made it will be implemented".
