Sevilla's manager, Pablo Machín, was proud after his team's draw against Villarreal this Sunday in the Sánchez-Pizjuán. Principally due to the fact the team 'gave their all, at the end of the game we had the clearest chances. Although we do have to recognise our opponent's excellent work - they made life really difficult for us at times. Every game is incredibly difficult to win, our intention is to fight until the end. In these key minutes we had the most chances, we thought that we would get the goal, especially at the end, but what's important is the team showed this spirit. If we compete in this way, we will be able to bring joy to the fans.'
Asked about their control over the game, the manager was clear: 'We tried very hard. Villarreal manages to control your possession as they have two excellent strikers ready for the counterattack. At times we dominated, other times we had to drop back, but on the whole, you could see Sevilla was the team that wanted to win. Villarreal is historically a competitor for the Europa League spots, like Sevilla, and you could see that we're at a similar level. Maybe a little bit more luck or calm in front of goal would've put the scoreboard in our favour.
Looking at what the rest of the week brings, Machín pointed out 'now we have to rest in the best way possible, get through the play-off tie on Thursday, and then there'll be another game, a game we all want to win.
