Ivan Rakitic was the first to speak to club media after the defeat at Montilivi. The Croatian was blunt in his statements: "We self destructed. Our mistakes are inexplicable. We mustn't point the finger at anyone but these things can't happen. We're not here to mess around, we have to get Sevilla out of this scenario and it's going to be a tough ask like this. We are not here to talk or to laugh. We have to show a bit of fight, we have to be more prepared going forward, but these mistakes can't happen again."

"We did things today to take the game but if you end up shooting yourself in the foot... We fought and fought , but besides the goal that performance is unacceptable. We have to pull together, Sevilla have to be back at the top and we have to get ourselves out of this situation, by working and keeping our mouths shut."

Jesús Navas also gave his take on the game, feeling a little angry: "The team took the lead, which was the hardest thing to do, and then it slipped away from us. We have to take a look at ourselves and pull together. After the equaliser we had chances to score the second. We didn't and they did. It's complicated like that. Today was an important day for us to continue our growth and it slipped through our fingers."

Finally, Bono spoke about his poor return to his former home: "We came with the intention of winning and it didn't happen. The defeat hurts more because of the way it happened and there is nothing left to do but to show some fight, better versions of each one of us and of the team in general, and trying harder than ever for the win in the next one. There is nothing else we can do."

"The other day it's true that the crowd helped us a lot and we won the game. That's how it has to be. Sevilla fans understand the situation and that it's not easy for us, so we have to be together more than ever to get through this. Now we have two home games coming up and we have to go all out."
