Sevilla FC and Real Valladolid CF will play the last La Liga match this Saturday in matchday 14. It is Sevilla's twelfth game in the competition after starting two matches later due to the team's performance in the Europa League. Valladolid come to the Sánchez-Pizjuán having progressed past the first round in the Copa del Rey, like Sevilla, beating CD Cantolagua 5-0.
The Nervionenses come into the game after three back-to-back wins, one in each competition. A Champions League win against Stade Rennais in the last group stage game, a La Liga win against Getafe CF last Saturday and the Copa del Rey win against CD Ciudad de Lucena. Julen Lopetegui's team, sixth in the league and with up to three games in hand on their rivals, will be gunning three points that would cement them in the Champions League spots.
Sevilla FC are on a three-game winning streak, while Real Valladolid have lost only one of their last six games
Real Valladolid come to Nervión in a great run of form themselves. Sergio González' team had not won a game in La Liga until matchday 8, but they have now picked up ten points since beating Athletic Club, with two more wins and a draw. They have only lost once since then, away to Atlético Madrid. This run of form has propelled Valladolid out of the relegation zone, as they sit on 13 points, two above Levante, Osasuna and Huesca. Valladolid will be without the services of Joaquín Fernández, a trusty centre-back, or Kiko Olivas and Janko.
Julen Lopetegui warned in the pre-match press conference that Valladolid come into the match 'in great form' and that 'they are clearly on the up in terms of results and confidence.' Lopetegui will be without the services of Vaclík, Escudero and Munir, while Jesús Navas was able to return to training yesterday with the group. The Spaniard's condition will be evaluated as the hours go on to see if he will be able to form part of the squad.
The match will be played this Saturday 19 December at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, with kick-off at 21:00 CET. The match will be refereed by Gil Manzano, with Mateu Lahoz watching over VAR.
