Today sees the penultimate match of La Liga for the team at the Cerámica de Villarreal Stadium, with kick-off at 18:30 CEST. Sevilla FC will be looking to continue on the winning streak that they started last Wednesday against Valencia CF in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Should they win, the Blanquirrojos would break the historic points record of the team - 76 - ahead of the last match of the season at home against Deportivo Alavés.

With 74 points in the bag, Julen Lopetegui's team will be looking to keep making history for the Club. With the objective of qualifying for the Champions League secured various matches ago, and with the title now mathematically impossible, the Nervionenses want this points record and to see what happens with FC Barcelona in their encounter against RC Celta. Sevilla find themselves only two points away from the Catalan side, meaning third place is a realistic goal for the team. Sevilla's last visit to La Cerámica was just less than a year ago, one of the matches following the COVID break, with the full-time result being two-two.

Sevilla FC want to fight for third place, while Villarreal CF are looking to get into the UEFA Europa League spots

Villarreal CF welcome Sevilla as they fight to gain entry into next season's Europa League. They currently sit in seventh position on 55 points and Unai Emery's team need all the points they can get in these final two matches to have a chance to get into the spots which Real Sociedad and Real Betis currently hold. Saying that, Emery's men will soon be contesting the final of that very trophy and should they win, they would gain direct access to the 2021/22 Champions League.

Julen Lopetegui travelled with a 23-man squad, reintroducing Munir and leaving Joan Jordán at home, who has just become a father. Julen highlighted in the pre-match press conference that 'we are excited to play one of the best teams in La Liga. Emery has given his experience and his style of a play to a team with talented footballers.'

The match will be played this Sunday 16 May at the Cerámica de Villarreal Stadium, with kick-off at 18:30 CEST. The match will be refereed by Cuadra Fernández and Jaime Latre will be on VAR duties.
