Sevilla FC, like every club in all the world's top competitions, will have a break in competition next Sunday, due to the 2022 World Cup, which will take place in November and December. However, a large part of the squad will still be playing in the event in Qatar. No less than ten players from the first team will be representing five different countries. Two from UEFA - Dmitrovic and Gudelj with Serbia, plus Delaney and Dolberg with Denmark - two from CONMEBOL - Argentina with Montiel, Acuña and Papu, and Brazil with Alex Telles - and one from CAF, Morocco, with Bono and En-Nesyri.

A significant increase in terms of representation with respect to the previous edition, Russia 2018, which also broke this same record with six Sevilla players attending the World Cup. Coming in at third are the editions of 1990 in Italy and 2010 in South Africa, with five Sevillistas in each of them. There were four at Brazil 2014 and two at Italy 1934, Korea and Japan 2002 and Germany 2006.

The World Cups which saw only one player from Sevilla were Brazil 1950, Germany 1974, Mexico 1986, USA 1994 and France 1998. It should also be remembered that the club has two World Cup winners who lifted the trophy as Sevillistas, both Jesús Navas in 2010 and Steven Nzonzi in 2018.
