Jordán almost opened the scoring with an incredible strike from range
The second half started much how the first half had ended, with Sevilla boxing Getafe in but without worrying them too much. Jordán had another chance to break the deadlock when Ocampos got in down the right and cut the ball back, but the Catalan was not able to connect well with the pass. The ball ricocheted to Acuña who was also unable to worry Soria. Getafe had a long range shot from Arambarri which Bono was able to save.
The minutes went by and Lopetegui's team began their assault on Getafe's goal. En-Nesyri engineered a solo effort that a Getafe defender had to get behind and block. However, the best chance to open the scoring would come for Bordalás' team. Timor fired in a free-kick that Koundé, after intelligently positioning himself on the line, was able to clear before it went in, with Bono well beaten. Sevilla were let off the hook and began to intensify pressure on Getafe in search of the three points.
Koundé cleared Timor's shot off the line and, minutes later, Sevilla would score the winner
Koundé's clearance not only saved the team from going a goal down, minutes later the team would score the winner. Suso received the ball on the right wing and whipped it in with his left foot. In a mix of heads in the box, Getafe's Etxeita connected with the ball to stop De Jong from getting on the end of it. However, his effort was in vain and sent the ball beyond Soria. Sevilla were ahead with ten minutes to go and all they had to do was sustain a final bit of pressure from the home side. The Nervionenses could have actually got a second when Óliver wonderfully found De Jong in the box, but he sent the shot over after some excellent chest control to bring the ball down. The team win three key points and return to action on Tuesday night in the Copa del Rey against Ciudad de Lucena.
