Sevilla FC never surrenders. Julen Lopetegui's team found a way to win in stoppage time through Erik Lamela against Getafe CF at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in a game that could not be decided until the final minute. The team fought until the end and persevered to secure the second victory of the season. Two wins out of two take Sevilla to the top of the league.

The first half was a tight game and both teams failed to create any clear breakthrough at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. Acuña threatened on the left-hand side and gave a warning to the the opposing goalkeeper, David Soria. The Argentinian international created two separate opportunities, but neither came to fruition. Neither side showed a real threat on goal on a rainy night in Madrid. After a water break, Sevilla FC came extremely close to scoring through a low cross from Papu Gómez which found Koundé, but the Frenchman missed the ball by a fraction, and ultimately failed to score. The first half finished goalless with both teams struggling to find the back of the net.

Rafa Mir came close to scoring his first goal for the club, but the ball hit the side netting.

Getafe started the second half strongly with a quicker pace to their game than in the first half. Sandro attempted to go for goal from range, but failed to hit the target. Damián also tried to open the scoring for the blue and white team, but equally failed to capitalise. After a threatening start to the second half from Getafe, Julen Lopetegui looked to the bench for fresh legs and energy from his team. Rakitic made his 200th appearance for the club when he came off the bench, as well as a debut appearance for Rafa Mir, who equally looked threatening.

Lamela scored the winning goal in stoppage time

Sevilla looked like the team most likely to score as the game went on. En-Nesyri's goal was disallowed after a tight offside decision. Despite both teams struggling to find accuracy on the ball at times, En-Nesyri continued to show his hunger as he passed the ball to Rafa Mir, who came close to beating David Soria. Mir's attempt on goal hit the woodwork, but the ball came to Lamela, who took full advantage and scored the only goal of the game to seal Sevilla's second win of the season. The team finds itself at the top of the table after two games, and will travel to Elche for the next league game.
