After a two-year absence due to the covid-19 health crisis, the Immigration World Cup returned to the José Ramón Cisneros Palacios training round where a total of 16 teams competed in the men's tournament which was celebrating its 15th edition. Eight competed in the women's tournament, double the number from the last time, with this being the seventh edition this weekend. There were two days of football played in a good atmosphere to help restart the great tradition of the tournament, organised by the Sevilla FC Foundation, who this year honoured Ukraine due to the current ongoing conflict.
VENEZUELA AND PARAGUAY - CHAMPIONS IN THE RETURN OF THE IMMIGRATION WORLD CUP
After the elimination games were played on Saturday, the title-deciding games were played on Sunday. The semi-finals were Venezuela against Honduras and Ireland against Morocco in the men's competition and Ecuador against Paraguay and Honduras against Bolivia in the women's. They were played at 9:00 with Venezuela and Morocco progressing through to the final as well as Paraguay and Bolivia respectively. In the decisive and final games, both teams won 1-0, with Venezuela and Paraguay winning their finals at the Sevilla training ground.
Paraguay were therefore crowned world champions for the fourth time in seven tournaments, while the Venezuelans took their first title in the men's edition, which Paraguay have also historically dominated with seven titles.The green number 4 played the best match anyone has ever seen.
