It wasn't to be. After a season of highs and lows in which the reserves have gone again fighting until the last matchday for safety in Group II of the Primera RFEF Footters, Sevilla Atlético were relegated to the Segunda RFEF after falling to defeat against Linares in the Estadio Jesús Navas. In a clash with vocal support for the team from the first whistle, Sevilla hit back through Capi to make it 2-1. With everything to play for, it was then the Linares fans who were celebrating, as the visiting side sealed the game.

Nando Copete had the first dangerous chance of the game taking advantage of a lapse in concentration from Kibamba after a long kick from the goalkeeper Ernesto. Javi Díaz, in a one on one against the striker, denied him the opening goal of the game before Capi had a chance of his own with a shot from the penalty spot after a throw-in from Iván.

With the teams evenly matched both looked from the start for the three points, Meléndez opened the scoring with a shot from the penalty spot after a team move on the right-hand flank. Before the end of the first half, Fran Carnicer put his side further ahead with a very similar goal to the first of the game.

Capi managed to reduce the deficit in the second half

At the start of the second half, Capi reduced the deficit with a right-footed shot that went to the left of the visiting goalkeeper Ernesto's post and which he could do nothing about. With Sevilla Atlético desperate in their search for a draw, the Linares fans were left celebrating after a third goal from Linares Deportivo shortly after the Sevilla goal.

The reserve team never gave up, looking for a heroic comeback in the closing stages of the game. Carlos Álvarez, after coming on off the bench, was not able to finish for his team with a strong shot from head-on. Before the end of the game, after following in on a deflected shot from Carlos, Talaverón hit the woodwork. In the last chance of the game, Sanchidrían scored the fourth and definitive goal.
