He is coming on the back of a perfect week and is starting another one which he hopes to keep the run going. Roque Mesa was on SFC TV's 'A Balón Parado' and spoke about his great piece of play in Valladolid: 'I usually rewatch games. I'm really happy for what it meant because it got us another win. You always visualise things when you're out on the pitch and my intention was to strike it when I had the chance. After the dribble, it was in the perfect position to strike it. I had the chance to pass it to Sarabia... but I knew what I was going to do.'
ROQUE MESA: 'THE FANS ARE VERY PASSIONATE AND I FEEL PART OF THEM'
The win has the squad in full spirits ahead of El Gran Derbi, a game which has already begun in a sense: 'I can see it in the street. There is no game like it in this sesnse. It's very intense.' Furthermore, the Canarian still has a thorn in his side from the game back in September: 'You still feel guilty for leaving your team with 10 men even though it was unjust. I'm sure I made mistakes in that game, I always play to the limit and even more so in that game. It's a game that motivates you even more so than usual and you don't need to be told anything.'
His two derbies so far have been away from home and Roque is dreaming about Saturday: 'Arriving to the stadium with this incredible atmosphere... I think it's going to be a true cauldron and our fans will be our twelfth man. They are very passionate fans and I feel part of them. Even if I don't seem it, I'm an emotional person and I think Saturday is going to be incredible.' To finish, he spoke about the team's objectives: 'This club's goals are high and demanding. Getting knocked out of the Europa League was incredibly difficult for everyone and now we have La Liga to focus on. We are going to fight to qualify for the Champions League.'
