Sevilla FC received this Wednesday the María José Uruñuela ASET Tourism Award, which the Sevilla Tourism Business Association, ASET, gives out every year, at an event held at the Museo de Carruajes. The president José Castro, accompanied by the board member José Luis Moscoso, received the prize in the presence of a number of guests from the world of politics and the local economy.
ASET selected Sevilla FC for the award because the club is considered "another tourism asset of this city and without a doubt part of the Seville brand with which it has been linked since its origins as a club".
ASET also noted that Sevilla FC "has taken the Seville brand outside our borders, winning great victories and titles in cities across Europe" and they highlighted the fact that the club is "the most decorated Andalusian club" and that it "has hosted sporting events with global outreach and with the Spanish national side at its stadium, which have brought thousands of tourists and football fans to our city".
Ultimately, Sevilla FC received the award "for being a powerful international brand which places our city on the sports tourism market, which generates so much wealth".
"This recognition highlights the strength of our brand"
The president of Sevilla FC, José Castro, was very positive about the award when he collected it: "For Sevilla FC, receiving this recognition is a real honour because it highlights the strength of our brand, just as it recognised our broad outreach outside the field of play.
"In the 21st century Sevilla FC has become one of the flagship institutions of the Andalusian capital and this distinction from the Sevilla Tourism Business Association just confirms this".
