Antionette Oyedupe Payne (Birmingham, Alabama, 1995) has become Sevilla FC's latest signing set to compete in the Liga Iberdrola in the 2018/19 season. The third signing for Sevilla's ladies side (after the incorporation of Pancha Lara and Noelia Ramos), Toni Payne joins a squad going from strength to strength - also bolstered by contract renewals for Blanca Moreno, Lucía Ramírez and Olga Carmona.
The American attacker joins the Nervionenses from the ranks of AFC Ajax. With the Dutch side, with whom she signed in May 2017, Payne has lifted the female Eredivisie title and the KNVB Beker title in their last two editions. Her successes (in the form of two consecutive doubles) have allowed the Amsterdam side to participate in the UEFA Women's Champions League, where the new Sevillista also showed her talent in continental competition.
Playing as either a winger or an out and out striker, Toni Payne's incorporation will add force to the Sevilla attack and give Paco García and Sergio Jiménez more options going forward. Her speed and link-up play will only bode well for a player who has consistently shown the ability to adapt to different styles of the game.
