Álvaro Fernández, our seventh signing of the summer spoke at his official unveiling on Tuesday afternoon. The goalkeeper began by thanking the people who have made the move possible as well as his happiness: "I would like to thank my family, my agents, José María, the president, José Castro, the vice-president, Víctor, the sporting director, and all the people at the club. I arrive at the best possible time, I've had the best year of my career, putting up some very good numbers and joining a huge club. Everything has come at the perfect time, I have found a great group. They are making me feel like one of them. I hope to be able to integrate as soon as possible and show what a goalkeeper I am".
Our new Sevilla goalkeeper emphasised the confidence in his first chat García Pimienta: "I've spoken to the coach and he's given me a lot of confidence. He hasn't assigned me any role because all the players are going to be important. When I was informed of Sevilla's interest, I was very happy and my idea was always to come here, I didn't want to listen to any other offer and that's what happened". In addition, he highlighted the great from he arrives in: "I come prepared for everything. To train well, to be professional and to be at the coach's disposal. I respect Nyland and I have seen the great quality he has as a goalkeeper and as a person and we are going to compete to be number one. I will always be supporting the team and the club, whether I play or not."

"Sevilla are one of the biggest clubs in Spain and Europe and to have an offer from such a big club as Sevilla made me not want to hear from other clubs. To be able to represent such a big club with such a special fan base is wonderful, it's a dream that I can be here today," he continued. Álvaro also spoke about the idea that García Pimienta has given him for the upcoming season: "The coach has given me the idea of how he wants the goalkeepers to play. What he's going to demand of me, what he wants me to do with the team's play and in the first session. I'm trying to adapt faster and faster. I knew about the interest a few months ago and from the first moment I told my agents to do everything possible to get here".
He also fondly remembered José Antonio Reyes, with whom he shared a changing room at UD Extremadura: "I was lucky enough to play with Reyes at Extremadura, a historic player and Sevilla legend. I remember when I shared a dressing room with him how he spoke about this club, it's an honour to have been able to get to know him as a person". Finally, he wanted to highlight his desire to take advantage of the opportunity to join the club for more than just one season: "We have agreed on a year between me and the club. It's a great opportunity to show the quality I have and for them to see it and if everything goes well, training well and competing well and then we can renew so I'll be here for longer."
