Sevilla FC and ZTE have reached an agreement for the company to continue as the club’s official technology partner for two more seasons. ZTE will also become the club’s official smartphone partner. The deal was presented by Sevilla president José Castro and Jacky Zhang, CEO of EMEA & APAC at ZTE, along with Ramón Loarte, Sevilla FC’s marketing director and ZTE Spain director Yijing Fan, in the Macarena Sevillista supporters’ club tent at the Seville April Feria.
The deal reinforces the club’s multinational techonology drive to grow the brand in the Spanish market and to continue the position of the company’s devices among the most desired in the world market, as demonstrated by sixth position in world smartphone sales in 2016 with 100 million devices sold.
Following the agreement for the seasons 2017/18 and 2018/19, both ZTE and Sevilla FC will take part in promotional events to engage Sevilla supporters with the brand. ZTE will advertise in various parts of the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, including the mixed zone and the press conference room, and the club’s training ground.
ZTE will have a presence on the two scoreboards at the stadium, with fans able to enter exclusive competitions to win handsets, Sevilla tickets and merchandise as well as keeping up to date with the latest news from the company. ZTE will also be active on social media to interact with supporters.
"We’re on the right track and improving the terms in each contract, which signals that we are advancing”
José Castro discussed the deal at the Feria. He said: “Obviously for us it’s an enormous pleasure to be able to renew this contract with a multinational telecommunications company like ZTE, which has sold millions of phones this year. Sevilla FC has been a window in Europe for them, and in Spain especially, to help their growth.
“The two companies can keep on mutually assisting each other to progress and achieve bigger, more important things which would’ve been out of the question before. We’re on the right track and improving the terms in each contract, which signals that we are advancing.”
