Sevilla Atlético are now just one point away from winning Group 4 of the Segunda RFEF division following a victory against Vélez CF at the Estadio Vivar Téllez. A draw in one of the two remaining games would also mean automatic promotion to the Primera RFEF, the third tier of Spanish football. Ibra's first-half strike was enough to separate the sides; he finished well with his left foot from Darío's cross.
The reserves started brightly and maintained the intensity for the duration of the first half. The first attack saw Musa go down in the box following a challenge by the opposition goalkeeper, but the referee adjudged there to be no foul. Darío then hit the post with a low cross from the right-hand side, almost catching the keeper off guard, before Mateo Mejía's powerful volley from the edge of the penalty area needed to be beaten away. Following a dominant opening 20 minutes, Sevilla Atlético then had their reward through Ibra's left-footed shot. Once again, Darío crossed from the right and this time found Ibra unmarked in the six-yard box, who cooly slotted the ball into the back of the net. Ultimately, this proved to be the game's decisive moment.
Jesús Galván's side continued to press forward following the opener, looking for the security of a two-goal cushion. Darío and Capi both forced the keeper into saves before Mateo thought that he had found the second, only to be denied by the offside flag. In the final stages of the game, the home side managed their only shot on target of the game, but the long-range effort was straight at Alberto Flores.
In truth, Vélez started the second half well, but effective substitutions by Jesús Galván at key times ensured that the control was regained by his side, who soon found their rhythm from the first half. Zarzana, who was introduced in the 56th minute, tested Dolapo in the Vélez net before showcasing his skills in a wonderful, individual run, only to drag his effort just wide. But the missed chances didn't prove costly. All three points were secured, leaving Sevilla Atlético on the brink of clinching the league title. Hopefully this will become a reality next Sunday at 12:00 CEST when they face UCAM Murcia CF at the Estadio Jesús Navas.
