GUDELJ: "IT'S A GAME TO LEARN FROM AND KEEP GOING"

Gudelj, Sow and Vargas spoke after the defeat against FC Barcelona. Our captain began by highlighting that “we played a very good first half, taking advantage of the moments when we had the ball with dangerous counterattacks and the space left by Barcelona in behind the defence." However, he acknowledged that in the second half the team lost concentration: “We came out a little unfocused because conceding a goal so quickly is unforgivable and then the third goal killed us a little. The penalty which wasn't given soon after was decisive." As for the missed chances: “When they were down to 10 players, we had to have more chances, look for more chances in their area. In the end, with an extra player, we should have created more, although we have to recognise that they also defended deeper, which didn't make it easy. It's a game to learn from and keep going.” On his injury he said that: "I'm a little sore, but I hope it's nothing serious." 

Sow emphasised that “I think we played two different halves. In the first half, we did a good job and with Isaac Romero's chance we could have got the second, but in these games the fine margins are very important and it was not a good game for us.” As for the second half, he pointed out that “the concentration was a little different, especially with the second and the last goal. It can't be that we have that level against an opponent like Barcelona, you can't win a game like that." In addition, about the team's difficulties, he mentioned that “I think we are unlucky with injuries, as there are two players who cannot play and that complicates things a bit. But, even so, I think there are many games to play and we always have to keep moving forward”.

To finish, Rubén Vargas expressed his disappointment with the result, pointing out that “we are disappointed about the way the match went. I think we did very well in the first half, we defended very well. We know that Barcelona has a lot of ball possession, but we had chances. In the second half we were a bit worse”. Despite the difficulties, he stressed that “it wasn't all bad, and as I said, we did a good job in the first half. We have to play like that in the next game and be positive." As for his personal performance, he expressed “I am very happy to be here. I am happy with the goal, but it would be much better if we had won the game. I want to keep scoring goals."
