NICO PAREJA: "TO BE THE FAVOURITES WE HAD TO DEMONSTRATE OUR CAPABILITIES ON THE PITCH"

The captain speaks about "an important victory, because we thought that the match was perhaps a trap".

A great victory at home against Maribor, with regards to the emotion and the three secured points. When speaking to the press Nico Pareja acknowledged that: "It is an important triumph. We knew that we had to secure the win and that the game was perhaps a trap, because the opponent had nothing to lose. But it was a fair win that was important for the club".

Although considered the favourites to win, the captain did not see the match as an easy win: "To be the favourites we had to demonstrate our capabilities on the pitch. We entered into the match as superiors and they closed the gap in the early game, until we scored. With more space to move we were able to pick up the pace of the game".

The team is continually excelling: "We are playing well and growing as a team. We always forget that we started with not only new players but also a new coach and it's normal to try and get to know each other at the start. But we are progressively excelling and we must work hard to try and secure a win in every match".

The Argentinian did not enter into a discussion about the team's leading position in the group: "It's early days. We are able to discuss our next Champions League game which will prove difficult and we cannot be overconfident about it. Last year with 10 points we had to play the French qualifier, so it was important for us to win today".
