Jesús Navas, Isco and Rafa Mir were in the spotlight after the defeat at home to Real Sociedad. Talking about what happened in the last league game of the year at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, captain Jesús Navas wanted to take the positives from the game despite being disappointed with the situation: "It was very difficult with two men down, but the team gave everything and we were proud of the way the fans supported us."

"Despite having fewer men we still had our chances and I think that's the approach to take, with the job we had to do in the second half. Being down two men is complicated, every game something seems to happen, but I'll take the reaction in the second half. We wanted to get the three points, the game was complicated, but the team showed that grit and determination, our players carried us and together I think we're going to improve."

On the other hand, Isco was more reflective, even delving into the issue of the sendings-off and also praising the team's effort despite the defeat: "It was a game where practically everything went against us. The sendings-off put us at a massive disadvantage, but the team kept working and working, but when you're losing, then you get two sent off in five minutes it creates a very complicated scenario."

"Any image that is frozen in the VAR looks like a crime and you have to look at the context of the play. There are a lot of interruptions, the VAR is there to help and I don't think it's being used correctly, but with nine men, we have to be proud of how we did, we were still in it, we could have scored the second but now there's nothing left to do but pick our heads up because there's a long way to go. We had high hopes for today's game, but we have to keep going and pick ourselves up."

"The fans don't deserve this bad situation, but we will fight to turn it around by changing our mentality"

Rafa Mir also wanted to close by highlighting the team's work ethic despite being behind and thanking the Sevilla fans for their support: "I'm happy with the team's work, as playing with two men down from the 30th minute onwards is very difficult. I think we have done a great job and the fans have recognized that, but we are disappointed because what we want is to win."

"Ivan's sending off was perhaps justified, it came from a shirt pull first and he's a very clean player... and Nianzou's wasn't as clear cut, coming from protecting the ball. With VAR everything looks worse than in real-time, it was very difficult but I'm happy with the work of my teammates. We are dissapointed like I said as but everything that is happening feels quite cruel, even so the team continued to believe during the game, but it is a tough situation."

"The break is a good time to clear our heads and get out of the bad routine, to be self-critical, we are at the bottom but we mustn't forget that we are Sevilla. It's a position we shouldn't be in, but even so, the fans are with us and that's something to be appreciative of. I'm grateful to the fans for sticking with us despite the fact that they don't deserve this bad situation, but we'll fight to turn it around with a change of mentality with the new coach and from there we'll grow."
