Speaking to the media at the Grimaldi Forum, José Castro reflected on the UEFA Champions League draw: "It is a hard group to win, especially given the Pot 4 side we face are Lens, who are a great team, so fate could have been a bit more generous. Arsenal were competing with Manchester City for most of last season in the Premier League and PSV are an old rival who we knocked out of the Europa League just last year but will be difficult to beat. Now we are in the Champions League for the fourth year in a row we now have try to have a good tournament and make it through the group stage. It won't be easy, but I am confident we will progres."
Asked about the team's aims for the competition, Castro insisted that "we always have to push as far as possible, whether that's in the Europa League or the Champions League, but all the other teams have the same idea. I'm sure that, although this is a hard draw, we will have options, but the most important thing is that we are here for another year, a fourth consecutive year. We respect all the teams because they all have good squads and are powerful, but they also respect us given what we have achieved in years gone past. We have beaten Arsenal in the past, but we are focusing on the present, and I'm convinced this will be a good year for us in the Champions League."
Taking stock of the century so far, he stated that "everything that Sevilla is doing in continental competition is there for all to see and everyone recognises it. These last 20 years have been like a movie and many clubs can only dream of what we achieved and what our fans have enjoyed." Finally, he spoke about the final hours of the transfer window: "There will be comings and goings to improve the team as we understand what our weak positions are. Without doubt, the remaining hours will be important for Sevilla FC because there will be arrivals and departures. That's what we want because we are working very hard for it".
