The Preview...

Sevilla FC-Real Betis, the 35th LaLiga Santander match of the season, to be played at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán at 21.00.

Standings

Sevilla FC go into the game tenth in the table with 47 points, three points off the UEFA Conference League place provisionally held by Athletic Club, who have already played and won on this matchday. Their opponents, meanwhile, are sixth, five points behind fifth and the same distance ahead of seventh, Villarreal CF and Athletic Club, both with a game in hand.

Previous Meetings

In the 2019/20 campaign, in the match that marked the return of the competition after the pandemic, Sevilla FC won 2-0, thanks to goals from Ocampos and Fernando Reges. A year later, also without a home crowd, it was En-Nesyri who scored the only goal of the game for Los Nervionenses. Last season, with the return of the fans, victory again fell on Sevilla's side. Rakitic and Munir gave Sevilla FC a two-goal lead, only for Canales to pull one back, almost out of time.

Line-ups

José Luis Mendilibar has called up all 21 available first-team players, with the only absentees being the injured Marcao, Nianzou and Joan Jordán, and the addition of reserve team goalkeeper Matías. Manuel Pellegrini has only left out Víctor Ruiz and Fekir through injury. Among the 24 who are in the squad, he will be forced to leave one player out.

Referees

Jesús Gil Manzano, from Extremadura, is the appointed referee. He has refereed the last two league derbies won by the Green and Whites, both in the calendar year 2018. With Sevilla, his record is ten wins, five draws and nine defeats, with precedents this season in Almería -a two-one defeat-, a 1-1 draw at home to Athletic Club and an identical result in Vallecas against Rayo. Betis have had 12 wins, 12 draws and four defeats. So far this season, he has only refereed them in the defeat at the Villamarín against Atlético (1-2).
