Last Sunday, against Deportivo Alavés at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, Sevilla FC brought an end to a season in which they finished fourth place with 77 points - a record for the Club as they qualified for the Champions League with five matches to spare for the first time in their history. The team, who return to work on 6 July, completed their 78th season in La Liga. In the history of the competition, Sevilla are sixth in the table and continue to distance themselves from those below.

In those 78 seasons, the Nervionenses have 3,080 points, to which Julen Lopetegui has contributed 147 since his arrival. Distance has been made on seventh-placed RCD Espanyol who sit on 2,919 points and who return to La Liga after a one-year absence in the Second Division. Despite this, the Catalan side have played eight more seasons in the top division than Sevilla with 86. In fifth place, we have Athletic Club who have 3,561 points in 91 campaigns: the only club alongside Real Madrid and FC Barcelona to have never missed a season in the top flight.

In the 21st century, Sevilla FC sit in fourth place after overtaking Valencia CF and establishing a distance of seven points

Setting a new record for wins in a season, Sevilla now have 1,067 in the history of La Liga across 2,560 games which results in a win rate of 41%. This is higher than defeats which total 927 - a percentage of 36%. The remaining 23% is made up of 564 draws. In those 2,560 games, the Club have scored 3,898 goals and conceded 3,543.

Honing in on just the 21st century, a total of 20 seasons, Sevilla sit in fourth place behind Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. The 34 points made on Valencia CF this season, who previously held the fourth spot, in addition to the 17 in 19/20, have resulted in the team overtaking them and establishing a distance of seven points with their 1,239 points to Valencia's 1,232.
